Resurfacing of various roads in Dunoon on track
15 October 2023
On Friday the Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, together with the project team visited Dunoon to look at the ongoing roadworks that are happening in Nyamakazi Street, Nkunkwana Road, Thandabantu Road, Fig Road, Silverleaf Road, Orchard Way, Siyabonga Street, Bulelani Street, Yomelela Avenue, Cosmos Street and Jasmine Close. The work is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, 24 October 2023.
‘Bahlali, sinivile kwaye sifikile [Dear Residents, we’ve heard you and we’ve arrived]. The City has been hard at work resurfacing roads here in Du Noon. We are resurfacing streets such as Orchard Way, Cosmos Street and nine other streets you might have seen us working on here. We urge all residents and road users to please pay attention to road signs and consider other routes. Ten community members got temporary jobs during the course of this maintenance work and we would like to thank the community for working with us to ensure that Dunoon also has good quality roads,’ said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
On Cosmos Street Councillor Quintas was greeted by residents and children who expressed their excitement over the resurfacing of their streets.
Traffic moving in both directions is still affected and partial road closures are still in place. Access is granted to residents who live along the affected roads. Existing road markings will be reinstated to their original position once the project is complete.
